Hong Kong Federation of Innovation Technologies and Manufacturing Industries (FITMI) was established in 1997. It started with 9 members that were the major associations of machinery and metal industries; now it consists of 37members from various associations and institutes, which covers over 6,000 corporate and individual units and a million of local and Mainland China employees as a whole.
In the past two decades, FITMI witnessed some major historical events in Hong Kong, namely, Hong Kong's return to China, Asian Financial Crisis, European monetary integration, SARS economic downturn, US and European debt crisis, the global financial crisis in 2008, the economic boom of Mainland China, the upgrading and transformation on Pearl River Delta Industrial Cluster, and so on. Over the years, FITMI gathered strength, improved skills and ensured quality management among the industries, to support the industries in facing all kinds of difficulties. Also to cope with the environmental changes, FITMI united different parties, put forward recommendations to the Government, and moved the forward steps all together for continuing improvement.
With a change of its official name, FITMI gained recognition increasingly among the industries. The number of members has surged to 327in present, showing a larger power of unity and more room for cooperation among the members. By persisting in the same belief, FITMI members join hands together to create a better future. On top of vast supports received from the industries, FITMI will continue putting effort for the benefits of its members, and strive to create harmony in the trade and industry environment.
